The most effective things would be passives/one action abilities/reactions that you could pick up from an archetype. At this point there are so many Archetypes in PF2E is a little overwhelming. Archetypes allow you to expand the scope of your character's class. Applying an archetype requires you to select archetype feats instead of class feats. A free update to the PDF! r/Pathfinder2e.Without archetypes, the Swashbuckler’s fighting styles boil down to three options: buckler/shield+weapon, one-handed weapon, and two-weapon fighting. Buckler/Shield+Weapon is frustrating. You don’t get Shield Block for free, so using a shield means investing in the Shield Block feat and probably some Skill Increases into Craft to …So doing a one shot with building characters, and getting the hang of it, and -then- giving them access to the free archetype is probably a good way to go about it.
